I was pleasantly surprised by Beyonce’s new video which doesn’t take itself a bit too serious. Set in a hotel suite Bey prances around in a sweater and underpants and nothing seems to be rehearsed. So here a happy, airy watercolour to go with the happy, airy video.
I used to do silly lounge wear dances in my parent’s front room when I was in my late teens. Unfortunately my pushy parents didn’t launch me into stardom but ordered me to stop jumping in front of the television.
And here is the video:
A big, happy birthday to my friend, Andy Hickinbottom – the best pin-up 3D modeler known to humanity. This gouche and ink picture of his signature character Trixie was the least I could do in return for the beautiful portrait he did of me not long ago.
Probably my favourite TV show so far: American Horror Story. Every season, the same actors play a different horror story and the latest tale is set in a witch coven in New Orleans. These ladies are just so very fashionable and I want to be them when I grow up.
The initial sketch of Myrtle came about for a drawing challenge on Twitter, organised by awesome 2D artist and fellow WordPresser: A4man. See what’s happening on the Twitter page of 1hour1sketch and join in. Only rule is that you only spend 1 hour on your sketch and absolutely not more! Just splash some paint or pixels around and have fun x
Moving house is a horrible experience. It requires hard work, it makes you feel unsettled and tracking down misplaced stuff is everything but fun. Just as I had given up on my little suede bound sketchbook, it turned up in the craziest of places… at the bottom of a box full of old video games.
So here are some skecthes of Debbie Harry, Audrey Toutou, Frida Kahlo and Twiggy! I just love faces with a bit of character… CLICK IMAGE FOR A HIGHER RESOLUTION.
There’s a lot of new technology coming out these days that we feel pressured to buy, but really don’t need. Will our lives improve by a voice controlled television set? Do we really need a robot vacuum cleaner? The neighbors have one, so I need to get one too…
If you’re looking to splash out on something “new”, you should get an iPad. Go on, you artist, treat yourself to this great tool! They’re not even that expensive anymore. I think it’s a great way to sketch. Get yourself a stylus (Wacom) and just doodle away. Unlike an old fashioned sketchpad and pen, you’ve got an undo option so mistakes are easily corrected. And it’s just great fun! Downside? No pressure sensitivity. Just give these Apple peeps a year or so and I’m sure it’s gonna get sorted. Technology moves fast.
